BEST BVI CHOIRS TO SING THEIR WAY INTO $5,000 IN PRIZES FROM DIGICEL
October 31st 2011 - Digicel Choir Competition 2011Monday, 31 October 2011 – Road Town, Tortola: In what is planned to be the biggest explosion of choirs and musical groups in the British Virgin Islands, Digicel today announced it is hosting a major Choir of the Year Competition in a few weeks time.
Commercial Manager Su Thomas said this is yet another of the exciting initiatives to be launched by Digicel, as the company continues efforts to play a leading role in the development of these islands.
“This Choir Competition is open to all groups, whether church or social groups, and all genres of music, including gospel, reggae, calypso or soca, R&B, pop, folk, rap, urban or world music, and it does not have to be original,” Thomas explained. “All you have to do is to bring in a CD of your music to the Digicel Flagship Store before November 15th and leave your contact details and we will get back to you.”
The choirs will be judged by a panel and the public will also get the opportunity to decide on their favourite by texting to a shortcode, details of which will soon be announced.
The Digicel Commercial Manager said the winning choir and the runners up will receive up to $5,000 in cash and prizes and will be privileged to perform for the entire public at an event happening for the Christmas season. This event will also be televised, bring more fame and perhaps fortune to the winners.
“Digicel is going all out to make this event one that will be talked about for years to come and some lucky choir or group will be on its way to stardom,” she stated. “This competition is open to all choirs and groups; just get to singing and bring along those recordings to us at Digicel and get prepared for some real good fun!”
