CELESTE FLAX WINS $12,000 IN FREE GROCERIES, COMPLIMENTS DIGICEL & RITEWAY
Thursday, 9 December 2010 – Road Town, Tortola: Hundreds of people turned up at Riteway Food Markets in Pasea last night for what was undoubtedly the most exciting event for the year – the grand finale of the Digicel 2010 Christmas promotion.
At the end of a fun-filled three hours, one lucky Digicel customer walked away with a Christmas gift that will definitely last until the next Christmas comes around! Celeste Flax gets a whopping $1,000 per month in FREE groceries redeemable at Riteway and a new Digicel BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone with $200 call credit!
Flax was one of six lucky Digicel subscribers who qualified to enter the Digicel Shop for Free competition, which was launched on November 1. The competition was open to everyone who topped up $15 or more, bought a Digicel phone, paid their bills in full and on time, registered for E-bill or activated any BlackBerry service. Each of the six winners, Flax, Cherelyn Cameron, Alvera Patrick, Markita Turnbull, Gerry Swann and Marvin Sprauve, received $500 in FREE groceries and a BlackBerry smartphone.
“This was all a great experience for me,” Flax declared. “I was very happy to have been chosen as one of the winners in the first place and even though I was a little scared about taking part in the finals, my husband Dwayne and I really came together and scoped out the supermarket and came up with a plan in terms of exactly what we will pick up and it worked out well!”
Flax said she is an avid Digicel customer and has been convincing others to switch to The Bigger, Better Network. With her winnings, she plans to make several donations, in particular to the Animal Shelter. “I love dogs and we picked up some dog food specifically for that.”
CEO of Digicel Alan Bates said he was delighted at the response to the promotion and thanked everyone for ensuring its huge success. He singled out the Digicel and Riteway staff, Research in Motion, the media and the BVI Red Cross. “Digicel was also very happy to partner with Riteway to host two charity runs last night and be able to donate two baskets of groceries to the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly and the Rainbow Children’s Home. We hope that these groceries and the gifts to the children will go a long way to brighten their Christmas holidays.”
On behalf of Riteway Food Markets, Managing Partner Delma Maduro congratulated everyone on “a well executed, high energy Supermarket Sweep”. She said Riteway was very glad to have been Digicel’s partner in this extremely well received event and look forward to many more collaborative events.
