GRAND CLIMAX TO THE DIGICEL AND RITEWAY $60,000 CHRISTMAS GRAB PROMOTION
December 22nd 2011 - Grand finale - Digicel and Riteway Christmas PromotionThursday, 22 December 2011 – Road Town, Tortola: $9,410 in cash, $3570 in Riteway vouchers, $4370 in Digicel credit and 4 BlackBerry smartphones!
That will surely make for the best Christmas ever for Roy Richards, a lucky Digicel subscriber and Riteway shopper, who made off with the biggest haul in the Digicel and Riteway $60,000 Christmas Grab promotion. He was one of several finalists getting a chance to enter the giant inflatable cash vault at the grand finale held at Riteway Pasea on Wednesday evening.
Richards qualified by shopping at Riteway for over $15 and was ecstatic but skeptical about the opportunity to take part in this promotion. “I never win anything,” he declared. But after counting his winnings after stuffing his clothes with vouchers during his one minute in the vault, he definitely knew he is now the luckiest Digicel and Riteway customer. And an overwhelmed Richards has promised he will be sharing his winnings.
Other lucky cash vault winners were Celsus Jack from Jost Van Dyke, who raked in $3100 in cash, $1580 in Digicel credit and $860 in Riteway vouchers and Sericka Corney of Anegada, who grabbed $530 in cash, $1040 in Riteway vouchers and $530 in Digicel credit. Digicel paid expenses for both contestants to travel to Tortola for the event.
Wednesday night’s wild card entrant, Laverne Hamilton, whose number was picked on the spot right after she shopped for more than $15 at Riteway Pasea, made a haul of $1550 in cash, $530 in Digicel credit and $1690 in Riteway vouchers.
Digicel and Riteway also did charity grabs for the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly and the Rainbow Children’s Home, which both will receive cheques for $1000 and $1395 and Riteway vouchers for $630 and $1430 respectively.
Entertainment on the night was provided by the Roadtown Wholesale Choir, Miri (Miriam Mark) and the Rugby Choir singing for their charity, the Family Support Network.
The Digicel and Riteway $60,000 Christmas Cash Grab promotion was launched at Riteway Pasea on 18 November and events were held at Fine Food in East End, Virgin Gorda and Riteway Road Reef. Digicel also paid expenses for several contestants to come to Tortola from Anegada, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda for events on Tortola.
Both Managing Director of Roadtown Wholesale Simon Potter and Digicel CEO Alan Bates expressed sincere gratitude to all of their customers who participated in the promotion and congratulations to the winners.
Bates said: “Digicel is extremely pleased to have brought you this exciting promotion this year as we give back to our valued customers and the community. We loved seeing the joy it gave to the participants and we want to take this opportunity to wish everybody Season’s Greetings and all the very best for the New Year 2012!”
For his part, Potter hailed the partnership with Digicel which he said saw the greatest Christmas promotion in the British Virgin Islands. “Roadtown Wholesale is willing to partner with businesses for the greater benefit of the people of the BVI,” he declared, as he also wished everyone Happy Holidays.
