MISS TEEN BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS WINS BLACKBERRY, COMPLIMENTS DIGICEL
Monday, 1 November 2010 – Road Town, Tortola: The winner of the 2010 Miss Teen British Virgin Islands Scholarship Pageant, 16 year old Sylvanna Charles, walked away a BlackBerry 8520 smartphone and a goodie bag, compliments Digicel, the BVI’s Bigger, Better Network.
The pageant was held on Saturday October 30th at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex. She was presented with her new BlackBerry by Digicel’s Corporate Sales Executive Giovanni Herbert, who congratulated her for winning the competition and wished her well in her future endeavours.
Ms. Charles, a student of the Elmore Stoutt High School, captured the prestigious title from a field of five contestants. She also won prizes for Best Talent, Best Evening Wear, Best Interview, Miss Intellect and Miss Popularity. Each of the other four contestants – Thalia Thomas, Jana Penn, Jhanique Thompson and Davina Michel, also received Digicel goodie bags among their many prizes.
Among Ms. Charles’ prizes were a $3,000.00 scholarship award sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Culture; a $750 cash prize; a trip to Miss Digicel Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen to be held in St. Kitts; trip to Miss Teen Universe in Barbados; official crown and sash; pageant wardrobe; bouquet of flowers compliments of Blossoms, official trophy; gift basket compliments of Celebrations Ltd; and wash and style compliments of Eclipse Hair Salon.
Digicel joins in congratulating all of the contestants for participating in the pageant and commends the organizers and all who contributed to the successful staging of the event.
