Monday, 23 May 2011 – Road Town, Tortola: Over 100 students are gearing up to show off the skills learned during months of rugby training under Coach Sherlock “Solo” Solomon of the BVI Rugby Football Union.

Eight Primary School and four High School teams will battle it out for the National Championship titles in the Primary and High Schools Divisions on 27 May and 3 June respectively at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.

The 2011 British Virgin Islands Primary Rugby Championship will see teams from Enis Adams, Ebenezer Thomas, Francis Lettsome and Leonora Delville in Group A and Cedar International, Isabella Morris, Ivan Dawson and 7^th Day Adventist in Group B, competing for the coveted title on Friday 27 May.

On Friday 3 June, teams from the Elmore Stoutt High School, St. George’s Secondary, Cedar International High School and the Seventh Day Adventist School will compete in a 4 Team National Championship.

The tournament, sponsored by Digicel, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Maples, DHL, RTW, SHRM Trustees BVI Limited, the Olympic Committee and the International Rugby Board, is set to begin at 12 noon on both days.
