BVI’s Star Sprinter Tahesia Harrigan Scott records Fastest Opener in her Career

My season is now in full swing. I debuted in the 100 metres at the Miami Alumni Classic Invitational on April 16th. I ran 11.28 which is my fastest opener in my career. I was happy with my time, but I was also slightly disappointed because I made an error that I shouldn't have made. Then again, my goal for this meet wasn't really hitting a specific time, but to execute a good race and if I made any errors, identify them and make corrections in my next race.

Not only did I run the 100 at this meet, I also ran the 2nd leg of a 4x100 relay. We ran 42.94 which is the 4th fastest time in the world. The team consisted of myself, Lauren Williams, Muna Lee and Jernise Saunders.  It was a good warm up for my main event. It also made me anxious to see what myself, Chantel, Ashley and Karene will do when we hit the track for the 4x100 together.

The energy at the meet was really high despite the 2 hour delay because of inclement weather. There was an array of high caliber athletes, so the field was very competitive.

I had Virgin Islands support in the stands at this meet. The Boynes, Sprauve and Smith families were out there cheering me along. Thank you so much guys for taking the time out to come and watch me compete. I really appreciate your cheers and support.

On Saturday, I will be running the 4x100 at Penn Relays. Then I go to Guadeloupe on May 5th to compete in the 100m on May 7th. After that I will be heading to Brazil to compete in 4 meets. I will be in Belem on May 15th, Uberlandia on May 18th, Sao Paulo on May 22nd and Rio de Janeiro on May 26th.
