Digicel sponsored Athlete Equals her 100m Record
June 14, 2011
I didn't get into the Adidas meet and my plan was to rest that weekend. However, my coach, Joey Scott, and I, decided that I should compete, because the break in between my previous and next competition would be too long.
My competition in Clermont, Florida was good. So competing on June 11th would have allowed me the opportunity to compete and run a fast time with legal wind.
I had two rounds in the 100m. In the preliminaries, I ran 11.22 with a negative 0.4 wind. There was a 3 hour break in between the rounds, so I had quite a bit of down time. Even though the time was long, I only did half of my warm up, because it was extremely hot and I was already feeling a little exhausted from the heat.
In the finals, I ran 11.14 with a negative 0.2 wind. Ok now, I know you might be reading this and saying "wait a second, that isn't 11.13." Ok, let me explain. After I ran, it was reported that my time was 11.13 (11.133 to be exact). However, when the results were posted online, that time was rounded to 11.14. I was disappointed, but the next time I step on the track I just have to break it by a bigger margin so I wouldn't have any issues. So sorry, no national records this time.
My next competition will be at the Hampton Games in Trinidad and from there I am competing at the CAC Championships. I will be running the 100 meter and a leg on the 4x100 meter relay.
Until next time
