Tahesia Updates on Penn Relays and Upcoming Meets
May 17th, 2011
Since my last blog, I have been quite busy competing and traveling. I kicked it off at Penn Relays where I led off the Caribbean All Star team 4x100 metre relay. This was my first appearance at Penn and I must say, the atmosphere was very energetic. Our team comprised of myself, Cydonie Mothersille (Cayman), Carol Rodriquez (Puerto Rico), and Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie (Bahamas) . We finished fourth in the race.
The following week I headed to Guadeloupe to run the 200 metres. Hoping to get an outside lane on this track because of the tight curve and rainy weather, I LUCKILY (sarcasm) received lane 2. I ran 23.82 in negative 0.7 wind.
I am currently participating in the Brazilian tour, which includes a total of 4 races in a two week span. This is my second year in the Brazilian tour and I hope to compete here on a regular base. My first competition was in Belem where I ran the 100 meters and placed second with a World and Olympic qualifying time of 11.33 in a 0.7 wind.
My next competition is on May 18th (tomorrow) in Uberlandia. There are some things I need to correct since my last race so my goal is to correct some of the errors I made in my first race. I am not solely focusing on time right now, because I believe that if I can run a technically sound race the time will come. So with 4 races in such a short period of time, it would help me to develop some consistency and race rhythm.
After Uberlandia, I am heading to Sao Paulo (May 22nd) and Rio de Janeiro (May 26th). I will continue to keep you posted from my Digicel BlackBerry.
