Tuesday 13th November 2012 – Road Town, British Virgin Islands: Digicel today proudly announced a $6 million investment with the launch of its brand new 4G network to customers across the BVI.

Digicel BVI customers now join other Digicel customers in markets such as Jamaica, Bermuda, the French West Indies and Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao where customers are already enjoying the benefits of HSPA+ technology which delivers speeds up to five times faster than traditional 3G technologies.

Digicel BVI CEO, Declan Cassidy, said; “As part of our promise to deliver the best network in BVI, Digicel is proud to announce that with our new 4G service, our customers can now enjoy speeds up to fifteen times faster than 2G.”

Underpinned by Digicel’s commitment to best value, best network, service and innovation, Digicel’s 4G network (based on HSPA+ technology) delivers faster download speeds of up to 19 Megabits/second – perfect speeds for downloading images, videos or music, browsing the web, catching up with the latest news, and keeping up to date with friends and family on Facebook, twitter and other social networking sites.

In addition, customers will now be able to access broadband at home and on the move with a range of dongle and wifi products from Digicel. Those customers with Android phones, BlackBerry Smartphones and tablet computers will also be able to access and download the latest applications effortlessly fast.

Mr Cassidy went on to say; “We are very excited about this new technology which will give customers a bigger, better and faster internet experience – all underpinned by our commitment to deliver the best value to customers across BVI.”

Digicel will be celebrating the launch with a street party on Waterfront Drive on Friday 16th November from 6.30pm and encourage all members of the community to come along and enjoy the fun.
